It’s all starting

So I finally got around to configuring this mess that is wordpress and have it work for my own themes, I know how to create wordpress themes now and boy wasn’t it tough, but I got there in the end. So yes this place is finally opened up but it’s a little messy so please excuse that. I had to get this place up and running ASAP this week, mainly for my Tafe course, we have industry night next week, publishers and agents coming to look at our work and our polios and so because I have this blong linked to my folio I needed to get it up so I have a place to post my sketches…and so this is how this place is also going to become my Illustrustration well Sketch Blog.

Kind of falling behind in Tafe but it so busy with this Illustre exhibition as well as preparing folios for industry night and pratcing for this Piano concert coming up next month. Anyway we hang all the images up at the gallery for the Illustre exhibition and everyone’s works look great, now tomorrow night is the opening.

First day of spring today :) and what a nice day it is too the crappy weather we’ve had the past few weeks has stopped and it looks like summer already but I’m stuck in the library printing off my sketches for my folio and blogging to you guys.

Well I’ll leave you with mass amounts of sketches I’ve been sorting through, enjoy.

Sometimes when I have too much work to do :p or need to draw and relax at the same time I draw from films, put on a DVD pause it at a good shot and draw. I find this useful for compestion ideas and what is called ‘Mis’en Scene’ which is veything set up in the shot adds emphsis on character and environment, sometimes they can be little visual clues as to what is going to happen later in the film or evidence towards a twist. This can be helpful in illustration to add more impact to the images and give the artwork a scene to sit in and add a backstory. That’s if I draw the whole shot, sometimes it’s good people or character pratice. Anyway here are some sketches from various days of doing just that,

The Little Mermaid

I was just playing around practicing constancy in a character and facial expressions and character style while watching The Little Mermaid, my all time favourite Disney films since I was little :p

And I’m falling asleep so I shall post this much so far, I still have heaps more sketches to put up some good ones from The Prince of Egypt and some observational ones from the park and the train.
